Home Battery Installation By Ausgreen Solar Solutions
Store the solar your roof produces, use it after sunset and, with the right setup, keep essential circuits running during a blackout. We design, supply and install home batteries from seven leading brands, added to existing solar or installed with a new system.
Home battery storage — assessed, quoted and installed end to end
What Is A Home Battery System?
A home battery stores surplus electricity from your solar panels so you can use it in the evening and overnight, instead of exporting it to the grid for a low feed-in credit and buying power back at retail rates later. Some systems can also provide backup power during a blackout.
Ausgreen Solar Solutions sizes a battery around your actual evening usage, your existing or planned solar system and your goals — bill savings, blackout backup, or both — then handles installation, commissioning and after-sales support end to end.
🔋 Battery Incentives Change — Confirm Before You Buy
Government battery discounts, including the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, have eligibility rules covering the battery, its size, the installer and the installation date, and the discount amount and limits can change over time. We confirm the current entitlement for your home on your itemised quote.

ℹ️ Models, Specifications & Availability Change
Manufacturers update model names, capacities, certifications and warranty terms from time to time, and not every model is available or eligible for incentives at every point in time. Your quote confirms the exact model, usable capacity, power output, warranty terms and incentive eligibility for your installation.
Which Battery Configuration Suits You?
The right setup depends on whether you already have solar, the age and brand of your inverter, and whether you want blackout backup.
| Configuration | How It Works | Best For | Things To Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| AC-coupled battery | Battery has its own inverter and connects alongside your existing solar inverter. | Adding a battery to existing solar without replacing the solar inverter. | Switchboard capacity, available space and export limits. |
| DC-coupled / hybrid | A hybrid inverter manages solar panels and battery together. | New solar-plus-battery systems, or older inverters due for replacement. | Panel and inverter compatibility, and whether the inverter is replaced. |
| Backup-capable system | Battery and inverter support backup mode, powering selected circuits during a blackout. | Households wanting essential circuits kept on during outages. | Which circuits are backed up and the battery's power output. |
| Staged upgrade | Solar installed now with a battery-ready design, battery added later. | Households spreading cost over time. | Inverter and switchboard planned for the later battery. |
Benefits Of Home Battery Storage
More use of your own solar, more control over when you buy from the grid, and options for backup.
Use Solar After Sunset
Shift daytime solar into the evening peak, when electricity is typically most expensive.
Lower Grid Reliance
Reduce how much power you buy from the grid by storing your own generation instead of exporting it all.
Blackout Backup Options
With a backup-capable system, essential circuits can stay on during an outage. This needs to be designed in from the start.
Expandable Capacity
Many modular systems let you add capacity later as your household, EV or usage grows.
Smart Monitoring
Track charge, discharge and solar use in an app, with deeper visibility from SkyBox Energy Management.
Incentive Eligibility
Eligible batteries and installations may qualify for government discounts. We confirm what applies on your quote.
Pair With Electrification
Run a heat pump hot water system or air conditioning from stored solar.

Honest Sizing Advice
We size the battery to your real evening usage, not the biggest unit we can sell you.
What A Well-Run Battery Project Looks Like
A battery is a long-term investment. These are the things worth getting right from the start.
- Confirm your installer is CEC-accredited and check their track record independently
- Decide up front whether you want bill savings, blackout backup or both
- Size the battery to your real evening and overnight usage
- Check your existing inverter's compatibility and age before choosing a configuration
- Get an itemised quote that separates the battery, inverter, installation and any discount
- Ask about usable capacity, power output and warranty terms in writing
- Confirm where the battery will be installed and that clearances are met
- Assuming every battery gives blackout protection automatically
- Comparing batteries on total kWh alone, without checking usable capacity and power output
- Oversizing the battery for the household's actual usage
- Ignoring whether the existing solar inverter suits the chosen battery
- Assuming every model qualifies for the same incentive
- Leaving app setup, monitoring and warranty registration until later
Government Incentives That Can Reduce Your Battery Cost
Depending on your location, eligibility and the specific battery, several schemes may apply to your installation.
Battery Sizing By Household
Every quote is tailored to your usage — this is a general guide to how households typically approach battery size.
Smaller Household
~5–10 kWh Lower evening usageCovers essential evening use for smaller households, units and townhouses.
Growing Family
~10–20 kWh Higher evening and overnight loadCovers cooking, heating or cooling and appliance use through the evening peak.
Larger Household
20 kWh+ High consumption, EV or backup goalsFor homes with EV charging, pools, ducted air conditioning or wider backup needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?
In most cases, yes. An AC-coupled battery can be added alongside your existing solar inverter, while a DC-coupled or hybrid setup replaces or upgrades the inverter so panels and battery work as one system. The right option depends on your inverter's age and brand, your switchboard and whether you want blackout protection. We confirm this at the site check before you commit.
Will my battery provide blackout protection?
Not automatically. A standard grid-connected solar system shuts down during a blackout for safety, and a battery does not change that on its own. Blackout protection needs a battery and inverter that support backup mode, plus wiring that separates the circuits you want kept powered.
Backup can cover essential circuits only or a larger share of the home, depending on the battery's power output and your loads. Large loads such as ducted air conditioning or electric ovens may not be supported on a smaller system. If backup matters, tell us up front.
Which battery brand is best for my home?
There is no single best brand. We install Hinen, Alpha ESS, Sungrow, Sigenergy, SunPower, Anker SOLIX and BYD batteries, and the best fit depends on your existing inverter, whether you want backup, how much capacity you need, whether you may expand later and your budget. We recommend a specific model for your home and explain why.
How big a battery do I need?
Size is driven by how much electricity you use in the evening and overnight, how much solar you generate and whether you want backup. A bigger battery is not always better, because capacity you never use adds cost without adding savings. We use your bills and usage pattern to recommend a capacity and power output.
How long does a battery installation take?
Many installations are completed in about a day once approvals are in place, but timing depends on the configuration, whether an inverter is being replaced, switchboard work and any grid connection requirements. We confirm the expected timeline on your quote.
Where can a home battery be installed?
Batteries are typically installed in a garage, carport or on an external wall, subject to relevant Australian standards and manufacturer requirements for location, ventilation, clearances and protection. We assess suitable locations at the site check and advise if a location is not compliant.
What warranty comes with a home battery?
Battery warranties are set by each manufacturer and vary by brand and model, covering factors such as years and energy throughput. Our installation work is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty. We confirm the exact product warranty terms for the model you choose on your quote.
Are there government discounts on home batteries?
Eligible batteries may qualify for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, and some state and territory programs offer additional support, such as the NSW Home Energy Saver zero-interest loan for eligible properties. Eligibility, discount levels and limits can change, so we confirm current entitlements on your itemised quote. See our Government Incentives page for more detail.
Do I need solar panels to have a battery?
A battery pays off most when paired with solar, because it stores the energy your panels would otherwise export cheaply. If you do not have solar yet, see our Residential Solar page and we can design solar and battery together.
